How it works. A network of micrometric nozzles is installed along the perimeter of the area to be protected — typically on hedges, shrubs, pergolas or fences, where adult mosquitoes shelter during daylight hours. At scheduled intervals the high-pressure pump atomises an aqueous solution containing plant-derived repellents or insecticides, generating a fine cloud that settles on the foliage and saturates the layer of air where the insects rest.
Treatment is scheduled for the hours of peak mosquito activity (dawn and dusk) and can be triggered manually from the App before an event. The action is twofold: knockdown of the adults present at the moment of release and a residual repellent effect on the treated vegetation, which discourages the insects from returning in the following hours.
THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Two plant-derived substances
Citriodiol® (PMD)
Oil of lemon eucalyptus
- •Contains on average 71% PMD (para-menthane-3,8-diol), a naturally occurring molecule.
- •It is the only naturally sourced repellent registered with the EPA whose efficacy against mosquitoes carrying Zika and West Nile virus is recognised by the US CDC.
- •In comparative studies PMD has shown efficacy comparable to DEET; at 30% concentration it offers complete protection for 4–6 hours against several species of Aedes, Anopheles and Culex.
- •The US FDA advises against direct use on the skin of children under 3 years old.
Natural pyrethrum
Chrysanthemum extract
- •A natural mixture of six organic esters extracted from the flowers of the Chrysanthemum genus.
- •It acts on the voltage-gated sodium channels of the insect’s neuronal membranes: it promotes their activation and inhibits their inactivation, causing repetitive firing, nerve-conduction block and paralysis (the knockdown effect).
- •Recognised for its low mammalian toxicity and its non-persistence in the environment: it degrades rapidly in light and air.
- •The literature reports resistance phenomena (kdr) from sodium-channel mutations: rotating active ingredients is good practice.

Field efficacy of misting systems
−60 / −90% adults after release
Field trials and operational reports document measurable drops in adult mosquito populations, often in the order of 60–90%, in the hours and days following a misting cycle. In a multi-year study of an automatic system, however, weekly reduction proved highly variable (from 98% to 14% across the 35 weeks observed), and knockdown was achieved mainly through direct exposure of the insects during release rather than residual deposit on vegetation. Efficacy decreases with wind, foliage density and uneven nozzle coverage.
