The hygiene revolution: probiotics

Humanity is founded on microbes. A sterile environment is not compatible with life.

The term probiotic (“for life”) refers to microorganisms capable of performing beneficial functions and restoring microbial balance.

Life as we know it is possible thanks to the synergistic action of these microorganisms. Human beings themselves live and function thanks to this symbiosis.

“Without microbes our planet would not have the atmosphere it has, there would be no plants and animals, humanity would not exist, there would be no oxygen to breathe and plants would have no carbon dioxide to turn into leaves, flowers, branches and roots.”

— Paul G. Falkowski

The disinfection paradox. Most products in use today contain chemical agents that destroy the bacterial flora, eliminating 99.9% of the microorganisms present. The overuse of chemicals has made the microorganisms we do not want increasingly resistant; with no antagonists left, they are the first to re-proliferate, creating a less hygienic environment.

Using probiotics creates natural biocompetition that supports stable, safe and long-lasting hygiene. The microbiota becomes healthy and balanced, and it protects us.

HOW THEY WORK

Three phases, hygiene that lasts

01 · Application and colonisation

  • Natural probiotics, selected in nature and beneficial to life with no added chemical agents, are introduced into the environment by misting.

02 · Enzymes and metabolism

  • The probiotics activate by identifying the contaminants present and producing specific enzymes to break them down and metabolise them (dirt, allergens, odours, grease and so on).

03 · Stable, lasting hygiene

  • The probiotics reproduce and continue their action, taking space and nutrients away from pathogenic microorganisms and thereby guaranteeing stable, lasting hygiene.

IN DEPTH

Why biocompetition works

Scientific note

The competitive exclusion principle

Two microbial populations occupying the same ecological niche compete for space and nutrients. By saturating surfaces with beneficial strains (typically spore-forming Bacillus), pathogens find no substrate available to colonise. Unlike a chemical disinfectant, which wipes everything out and leaves the niche free for recolonisation, the probiotic barrier is stably occupied and self-regenerating.

Scientific note

The rebound effect of chemical disinfection

−99.9% → recolonisation

After chemical disinfection the microbial load collapses, but in the following hours pathogens — free of antagonists — re-proliferate faster than commensals, often exceeding the initial level. Repeated selective pressure also favours resistant strains. Probiotic misting, by contrast, keeps the curve flat over time.

KEY ADVANTAGES

Why choose it

01

Effective

They remove contaminants in depth, eliminating bad odours at source rather than masking them.

02

Natural

Microorganisms that exist in nature, with zero chemical or toxic substances.

03

Long-lasting

They create a protective microbiome that hinders the formation of new germs for days.

04

Biodegradable

100% biodegradable; they also clean drains and pipework from first use.

05

Transmissible

They create a positive microbiome passed from surface to surface.

06

Hypoallergenic

Free of chemical agents, completely safe for people, animals and the environment.

07

Practical

No rinsing required: the cleaning action continues on its own over time.

08

Cost-effective

High dilution and low dosage: long product life and significantly reduced costs.

APPLICATIONS
